Panchayat Governing Committee – General Information
The Panchayat Governing Committee is the group of elected representatives responsible for the administration and development activities of the Gram Panchayat.
Composition of the Governing Committee
- President – The head of the Panchayat.
- Vice President – Performs the duties and responsibilities of the President in the absence of the President.
- Ward Members – Representatives directly elected by the people from each ward.
- Standing Committees – Committees responsible for coordinating activities in various sectors.

Major Responsibilities of the Governing Committee
- Prepare annual plans and budgets.
- Implement development activities of the Gram Panchayat.
- Improve basic infrastructure such as drinking water, sanitation, roads, and streetlights.
- Implement social welfare schemes.
- Implement the decisions of the Gram Sabha.
- Coordinate disaster management and relief activities.
- Take necessary action to address public complaints and grievances.
Meetings
- The Panchayat Governing Committee generally meets at least once a month.
- Decisions regarding Panchayat development, financial matters, and welfare schemes are taken during these meetings.
Term of Office
- The term of the Panchayat Governing Committee is generally five years.
- Members are elected directly by the people through elections.
